On March 1, 2007, Governor Rendell expanded CHIP through the Cover All Kids initiative. This program provides health insurance to uninsured children and teens, regardless of family income (if they are not eligible for Medical Assistance.)
CHIP is free to families who don't qualify for Medical Assistance and whose household income is 41,300 for a family of four. Low-cost CHIP is available for children whose family of four makes 61,950. This is a substantial increase in the maximum allowed!
No child or teen can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.
